I bought a couple boxes of round 2 today and got a couple nice mats, out of curiosity i check ebay on em to see what they might be worth and see a GSP mat sold recently for $40. Am I missing something here, are the round 2 mats actually valuable? I guess I always assumed they were like the round 4 mats.

Did you pay the same amount of $ for the Round 2 Boxes as you would for Round 4 boxes?
Most likely not. That along with the fact that the Round 2 Mats are older should make them worth more than the Round 4 Mats.

I understand that, I was just shocked to see a non number mat sell for so much. I am not complaining I got a gold, 2 color version of the same card.

Yeah, the big name's mats from 09 are still relatively valuable.  Also, that series had "groups" for the mat cards.  GSP, Anderson, Lytle, Johnson, and a couple others are in "Group B" and therefore are more rare/valuable.

Guida and Dan Miller are in Group A and there were only about 50 of their base mats made.  You didn't happen to pull either of them did you?

Nope, did not get a Guida or Miller. That is interesting that there are so few, do you know how many were made of the "group B"? Or where I might be able to find more info on these, maybe an old thread? I'll have to look around, I appreciate the info.

There was a downloadable Checklist of UFC Round 2 posted somewhere on this site that had the pulling odds marked for the mat cards in Rd. 2.

Well go figure, all that info is on the box/packs. I did not even think that the groups would be listed on the packaging but there they are.

I just found an old list of my cards that I own. There was a Dan Miller mat listed but I don't have it anymore. I probably sold it to someone here for super cheap not realizing that they were rare. What would one of his mats go for anyways?

Ironically enough, the mat #/99 is probably only in the $10-15 range.  The Onyx #/88 would be around $30-40.

The base is the most sought after.

I was wondering about this for a while too, if the base group b mat relic was more rarer than the gold #/199 and onyx #/88. Going back to my old beckett price guide (dec '09), it states that the odds of pulling the base is 1:206 pack, gold is 1:54 pack, and onyx 1:121 pack. I thought that this was a misprint by beckett.

this would have been valuable stuff to know yesterday.  if you saw ebay a guy listed about 20 mats from both round 2 and main event.. i snagged almost all the main event ones but didn't spend more for the round 2 ones.. i guess i'm not sure why because they were only selling between $3-5 each.  not bad for a card that you get so few out of a very expensive box.  but generally i do have to say that fight mat cards are very cheap... usually if they sell over $5 there is something significant about it (rare, top tier fighter, or super colorful)

I'm assuming this the Dan Miller card you are referring to?

I'm curious what you guys think the Guida mat parallels would be worth...about the same as Dan Miller?  I see them for prices all over the map.  I've got a Guida #/88 that I have had offers on but I haven't budged on it because I have no idea...and no regular Guida mat to complete my collection.

I think the Guida pricing is just slightly higher than the Miller $$15-25 for the Gold $$35-45 for the Onyx and the Regular mat is about the same as the Miller.
But with the way the market is these days you just never know what anything will sell forConfused
When this series first came out I had a guy buy a Guida /99 gold mat from me (If I remember correctly) for around $350. I kinda feel bad for himCry

The Guida regular base mat has been eluding my collection for sometime...The last one (which has been awhile now) came at a thin time for me and the one prior to that was shill bid up to like 175 bucks.  I will get one someday.  I have an onyx and a ruby...come to think of it I don't have a gold one either...need to get one of those too.

The odds of pulling a base Mat of Guida or Miller Group A was 1:3,750 Group B was 1:206 Group C 1:51 Group D 1:139 Group E 1:41 Group F 1:93 Group G 1:50
The Gold Guida and Miller Group A was 1: 1,785 and Group B was 1:54
The Onyx were 1:121

So the hardest pulls ( not the least made ) are are Miller and Guida base Mats followed by Miller and Guida Gold Mats Then Group B Base Mats followed by Group D Base Mats and then the Onyx

1 Guida & Miller Base
2 Guida & Miller Gold
3 Base Mats of:
   A. Johnson, A. Silva, Chris Lytle, GSP, Josh Kosh
4 Then Base Mats of: BJ Penn and Jens Pulver
5 Then the Onyx (27 fighters)
