Just flipping (not literally) through some of my Round 2 cards and was admiring my Red A. Silva 25/25 auto. The thing is I got this card in the mail to replace a damaged card I pulled that was not a 25/25 Silva auto. This got me thinking...I wonder how many other "major hits" Topps holds back for cases like mine. When there are only supposed to be 25 of a particular card, taking one out of the pool is a big deal. I wonder if they take this into account in their stated odds? Doubt it.

this is very common to hold back a percentage of the production run to replace damaged cards and such.
Panani just had a big uproar about it as someone pulled a 1/1 redemption and it was replace it a 1/1 of a different player and ironically was the "biggest available hit" in the production run. So everyone wants to hear why Panini explain why the best card was never put into circulation. Their reason, "it was an oversight. " |

even worse story - back in 2001 topps realse a heritage autograph set that featred the reprint rookie cards of many big name players from the last 50 years (it was part of the whole 50 years of topps thing) the card were blue and red autos - just like MMA blue where regular and red was limited to 25
long story short - they started to substitute the extra un-numbered willie mays red autos for peoples redemptions on card they didnt have - talk about a major kick in the nads ?? imagine pulling a red ink willie mays auto only to find out topps is sending them out as replacements as well |

Brandaloo, it was a Brock Bloodlines Auto, which you would think they could have "spares" of since they weren't actually serial numbered cards. I don't mind them printing a few extras as spares but I guess this is very difficult with most of the big hit cards being serial numbered now. Unless they could only stamp them as they received a damaged card to make sure there are never more than one ?/25 or whatever.

BTW, I can't say that I was all that upset because I don't collect Brock. Funny thing is, I bought one more box right afterwards and pulled a Red Brock /25 (which I then sold to Lesnar Fan). Two /25 Brock autos in 3 total boxes. Crazy!
